MTV Millenial Awards Ceremony Takes Place in Mexico City

The first edition of the MTV Millennial Awards, was held earlier this wekk in Mexico City's Corona Forum. The awards were a celebration of music, social networking, movies, television, fashion and Twitter stars, with 15 different award categories.

The event was attended by a wide range of stars that included Sofia Sisniega, Sebastián Zurita, Luis Gerardo Méndez, Pedro Damian, Dulce Maria, Eleazar Gomez, Los Bunkers, Poncho and 3BallMTY. The award show was hosted by actress Karla Souza and Mexican Youtube sensation Werevertumorro. The show began with musical performances by 3BallMTY, who played the single "Quiero Bailar" from his upcoming album.

Danna Paola also took the stage with Javiera Mena, the band Poncho and Liliana Saumet from Bomba Estereo, who together played "Agüita," the theme song for a new telenovela.

The legendary Argentinian duo Illya Kuryaki and The Valderramas surprised the audience with an explosive rendition of "Ula Ula" and their now classic hit "Cool O."

Werevertumorro, who was hosting the night took home the coveted Digital Icon of the Yeae award, while a special category called Think Big, which celebrates creative social projects, went to Juan David Aristizabal. Aristizabel's winning project Buena Nota is an organization that informs and connects Colombians and engages communities to work on their social problems to find a solution. The program is meant to create networks of social entrepreneurs and volunteers. Today there are more than 60 entrepreneurs on the program, which has trained 5,000 young people, and benefited 10,000 Colombians in the past year.

The Millennial MTV Awards will be broadcast on Sunday, July 28, through MTV Latin America.
