The WWE Monday Night Raw episode following Money In the Bank 2013 was an explosive one as the road to SummerSlam 2013 kicked off at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Monday.
CM Punk, looking for revenge after his ex-friend and mentor Paul Heyman following the shocking attack on Punk by Heyman at the Sunday Pay Per View, called out Heyman and Lesnar. Heyman unloaded a blistering tirade against Punk, accusing the five-time world champion of thinking he was better than Heyman since he returned in June. Punk retaliated with a vengeful promise to destroy every one of Heyman's clients until only Heyman remained. Heyman summoned Brock Lesnar out, and Punk and Lesnar did battle through the ringside area, which ended with "The Beast" F-5'ing Punk onto the announcer's table. Punk waved off medical attention, but was visibly rocked as the two appear on a collision course for SummerSlam.
Speaking of SummerSlam, WWE Champion John Cena was allowed to pick his title opponent for SummerSlam, and he did not disappoint the throng of people chanting "YES! YES! YES!", as he selected former World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan to defend his WWE title against. Bryan has been on a roll as of late, but will it be enough to topple Cena from atop his place at the top of the mountain?
After costing Dolph Ziggler the World Heavyweight Championship against Alberto Del Rio at MITB, Divas Champion AJ saw yet another relationship end as Ziggler broke up with her in a backstage segment. Ever vengeful, AJ ended up ringing the bell prematurely to distract Ziggler during his match with Del Rio on Raw, causing Del Rio to win via a kick to the skull. After the match, Ziggler was assaulted by his former bodyguard Big E Langston as AJ looked on.
Brad Maddox, the new General Manager of Raw, booked All-Stars Money in the Bank winner Randy Orton against Fandango, which ended with Orton nailing a perfect RKO for the win.
Mark Henry went down to the ring to give his concession speech following his loss to Cena during their MITB title bout. Before he could make his case for a rematch with Cena, The Shield surprised the audience with a brutal attack on The World's Strongest Man that culminated with a triple powerbomb.
The Wyatt Family followed up their assault on Kane last week by attacking R-Truth.
The Usos defeated the Real Americans.
Christian defeated WHC Money in the Bank winner Damien Sandow. After the match, Cody Rhodes, who was betrayed by Sandow during the MITB matchup the night before, attacked Sandow and drove him from the ring.
Naomi defeated Brie Bella.
And the returning former WWE Champion Rob Van Dam defeated six-time world champion Chris Jericho in the main event of the night.
