Five new Pokémon have been confirmed for "Pokémon X and Y," including the evolution of Pancham.
The first of the five new Pokémon is the Fairy-type Swirlix, exclusive however to "Pokémon X." Swirlix has the new ability Sweet Veil, which resists Pokémon on the same team from falling asleep. The new Fairy Pokémon can learn the move Draining Kiss, which causes damage to the opposing Pokémon while restoring HP to the player.
Exclusive to "Pokémon Y," Spritzee is another Fairy-type Pokémon that emits a fragrance. Although it is a Fairy-type, it can learn the Grass-type move Aromatherapy, which causes a Pokémon on the same team to be healed from any status conditions, such as poison and sleep.
"Pokémon X and Y" will introduce the Dark-and-Psychic-type Inkay and its evolution Malamar. Inkay can learn the new Dark move Topsy-Turvy, which reverses stat changes of the Pokémon in battle.
"For instance, if opponents increase their Attack and Defense stats during battle, it will suddenly come back to bite them when Topsy-Turvy is used," noted The Pokémon Company International.
Finally, Pangoro is the evolved form of fellow new sixth-generation Pokémon, Pancham. The Panda-like Pokémon evolves into a dual Fighting-and-Dark-type while maintaining its signature leaf in its mouth. Pangoro is said to have a violent temper but can still play fair. Utilizing its heavy arms, Pangoro can learn the move Hammer Arm.
The five new Pokémon were confirmed with the new professor for the Kalos region, Augustine Sycamore. Prof. Sycamore, as have past professors, will give the player one of the three starter Pokémon - Chespin, Fennekin, or Froakie.
The new criminal organization for Kalos was also revealed to be Team Flare. Information on the new villainous team is scare but the "fashionable" group is known to wear bright red attire and were seen using a Houndour in a new Pokémon trailer, likely signifying their specialty will be Fire-type Pokémon.
"Pokémon X and Y" will launch worldwide on Oct. 12, exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS.
