Fans of the CW's hit dramedy "Hart of Dixie" are weathering the hot summer months in eager anticipation as the third season premiere inches closer. The show's second season left Zade shippers a tad disappointed when Zoe (Rachel Bilson) told Wade (Wilson Bethel) that she'd need the summer to reevaluate their complicated relationship. However, EP Leila Gerstein has already promised that the couple's breaking up "was never intended to be the end" of their relationship.
While Zade fans can breathe a sigh of relief, new details of the upcoming season might put a snag in their reunion hopes. TVLine is reporting that the premiere, entitled "Southern Comfort Zone," will introduce two new recurring characters to Bluebell.
TVLine's Michael Ausiello writes, "One is Joel, a quintessential New York artist who passes through Bluebell to get some inspiration for his latest book and becomes enamored with the small town's charms. The other's Lynly, Lavon's spoiled, clueless cousin who arrives to town in the hopes of mending her broken heart. News flash: Girlfriend's not as dumb as she lets on."
Could the two new characters spell trouble for the already fragile couple? While Wade assured Zoe he'd wait for her while she spent the summer in New York, three months apart could possibly diminish his feelings for her. It seems unlikely, especially after Wade portrayer Wilson Bethel told reporters he hopes his character does a lot of maturing so he can "be happily in love with Zoe" in the upcoming season.
Lynly's arrival could also signify a new relationship for George (Scott Porter), although the actor has been adamant about his character remaining single for the time being. Fans will just have to wait and see what these new characters will mean for Bluebell's many couples.
"Hart of Dixie" returns for its third season in its new Monday night time slot on October 7 at 8 p.m. on the CW.
