All good things must come to an end. It's unfortunate, but it's true. "How I Met Your Mother" has graced CBS and appeased fans for eight seasons and is now gearing up for its goodbye. Its final season begins this fall, and although fans are upset to see it go, it promises to tie up all loose ends and go out with a bang. It will follow Barney and Robin's wedding weekend in its entirety and introduce the Mother to each character individually. Not only that, but the finale season will be chock full of flashbacks to remind fans of all the good times, and who better to help do so than prior guest star Wayne Brady?
According to TV Line, Brady will return to "How I Met Your Mother" in a recurring capacity as Barney's brother James throughout season 9. The actor officially confirmed the news via Twitter on July 8.
"Just got back from my 1st HIMYM fitting of the season! Can't wait to shoot on Wed! You may be seeing a little more 'James' this season! Yes!" Brady wrote.
James was last seen in a 2011 episode, but his return does not come as a surprise. Since the upcoming season takes place over Barney's wedding weekend, it makes perfect sense that his brother would be in attendance.
And for fans who want more Wayne Brady, he will star in The CW's revival of "Whose Line Is It Anyway?"
So prepare yourself for a wild and crazy trip to one of the most entertaining weddings you'll ever witness. The "How I Met Your Mother" finale season will be chock full of laughs, tears and zany antics. Get ready.
"How I Met Your Mother" will return to CBS on September 23.
