The lineup to this year's Toronto International Film Festival was announced and features 62 films with an array of international directors including Terrence Malick, Robert Redford and Pablo Larrain.
The Toronto Film Festival, known as the festival to start the awards season, will open with the world premiere of Rian Johnson's "Looper" starring Joseph Grodon-Levitt, and Bruce Willis.
Other World Premieres will include Ben Affleck's "Argo"; the Wachowski's "Cloud Atlas"; David O. Russell's "The Silver Linings Playbook", starring Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence; Derek Cianfrance's "The Place Beyond the Pines" starring Ryan Gosling.
Mike Newell will also unveil his adaptation of "Great Expectations" and Focus Features will also premiere Roger Michell's "Hyde Park Hudson" starring Bill Murray and Laura Linney.
Films making their North American premieres include Mira Nair's "The Relcutant Fundamentalist", which will open the Venice Film Festival; Billy Bob Thorton's "Jayne Mansfield's Car"; Robert Redford's next directorial effort "The Company You Keep".
Cannes favorites such as "Rust and Bone", Matteo Garrone's "Reality", and Pedro Larrain's film "No" will also see North American premieres. Other Cannes successes include "The Sapphires" and "The Hunt."
Joe Wright's "Anna Karnina," starring Keira Knightely, will also premiere. The award winning Sundance film "The Sessions" will make its international premiere too.
The biggest surprise of the festival is Terrence Malick's "To the Wonder", starring Ben Affleck, Rachel McAdams and Javier Bardem. The film is rumored to premiere at the Venice Film Festival but there is no release date set yet.
One of the biggest omissions was Paul Thomas Anderson's "The Master" which is slated to be one of the biggest awards contenders.
The festival has yet to announce their Vanguard, Midnight Madness, and Documentary lineups. The Toronto Film Festival opens September 6th and runs through the 16th.
