Miley Cyrus fans are one of the most dedicated followers ever, and they've proven this to be true once again.
The "Smilers," as Miley's fans are called, have started a petition online to make the singer's hit "Party in the U.S.A." the new U.S. national anthem.
The appeal was posted on the White House's "We the People" petitions page, a system that allows U.S. citizens to lobby the government for different society-related petitions.
The request is calling for President Barrack Obama to change the "Star-Spangled Banner" to Miley's chart topping single off her Platinum album "The Time of Our Lives."
The posted petition states:
"We Petition the Obama Administration to Make 'Party in the U.S.A.' our National Anthem.
"Obama please make Miley Cyrus' 'Party in the USA' our national anthem. It is what is best for this country."
The petition was created on July 2 by a person from Redford, MI as the site published. It is also posted under the categorical issues of Arts and Humanities, Firearms and Human Rights.
"Party in the U.S.A." was written by Jessie J, Dr. Luke and Claude Kelly and was released in August 11, 2009. The song, which peaked at number two in the Billboard Hot 100 charts, paved the way for Miley's edgier persona. It was also received positively by critics, the media and of course, her millions of fans.
The petition needs 100,000 signatures by August 1, 2013 to be heard by the government. So far, it only has 307 signatures.
