As promised, Warner Brothers released new "Man of Steel" trailers as a preamble to "The Dark Knight Rises" last Friday.
Both trailers portray the same imagery, but each has a different voice over.
In one, Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), adoptive father of Superman alter-ego Clark Kent, gives the hero some sound advice.
"You're not just anyone," he says. "One day, you're going to have to make a choice; you have to decide what kind of man you wanna grow up to be. Whoever that man is, good character or bad, he's going to change the world."
The alternate trailer hears the voice of Russell Crowe playing Jor-El, Superman's biological father.
"You will give the people an ideal to strive towards," Jor-El says in the trailer. "They will race behind you. They will stumble. They will fall. But in time, they will join you in the sun. In time, you will help them accomplish wonders."
The footage in the teasers portrays a subdued and unsaturated rural landscape that evokes a sense of loneliness.
The trailers were only a sniff of what people at Comic-con experienced when Warner Brothers showed off a trailer for "Man of Steel." That trailer portrayed Clark Kent attempting to find his place in a world that rejects him constantly. At one point, the superhero is shown under arrest. A voice even narrates: "What if a child dreamed of being something other than what society intended? What if a child aspired to something greater?"
"Man of Steel," slated for a June 14, 2013, release, also stars Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White and Michael Shannon as General Zod. Henry Cavill will play Superman and Zack Snyder is the director. The film is written by David Goyer (who also wrote the famed "Dark Knight" Trilogy) and Christopher Nolan, director of that same Batman trilogy, is the producer of the film.
