News from the CBS' popular crime-solving drama "Criminal Minds" has been pouring from the network in the past few days. The one-hour drama may not be returning until late September but fans continue to search for any new details about the upcoming ninth season.
Until now, we've heard that Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) and Rossi (Joe Mantegna) will both be very much single next season. According to showrunner Eric Messer, giving Reid a love interest this season didn't feel quite right. Messer told TVLine, "He feels like he's still with Maeve and that would feel like a betrayal to Maeve, so we're not going to go there this year."
Actress Kirsten Vangsness (Garcia) also shared some scoop about the upcoming series premiere, saying that the two-part premiere will focus on a man who kills women who look like his ex. "[The storyline] is pretty complicated," the actress told Entertainment Weekly. "I was a little confused for a second and then I figured it out and was like, 'Wow!'"
Now, TVLine is reporting that actress Camryn Manheim will be appearing on the show's two-part premiere as the mother of the UnSub. TVLine reports that Manheim's chracter is "very protective and watchful over her son, whom she knows has some serious emotion problems." We'd say that killing women that look like his ex-girlfriend is quite the "emotional problem."
TVLine also adds, "Rumor has it mom is carrying around some deep, dark family secrets of her own." Sounds like a lovely family, huh?
"Criminal Minds" season 9 will premiere on Wednesday, September 25 at 9 p.m. on CBS.
