Game Freak Inc. Director Junichi Masuda has released a new video for "Pokémon X and Y" and revealed the latest pocket monster for the sixth generation.

In a video for attendees of Japan Expo in France, Masuda further commented on why France was the inspiration for the new Kalos region in "Pokémon X and Y."

He referenced his trips to the country in 2000, 2010, and 2011, which helped compile information for the details seen in the upcoming video games.

Masuda then introduced the Steel and Ghost-type Pokémon Honedge. Latinos Post revealed the new sword-like Pokémon on July 4, however, its official English name was not disclosed publicly.

According to a description of Honedge, it is said that the Pokémon comes into being when "a departed spirit possesses a sword that once belonged to humans."

Honedge can use the blue cloth on its hilt as an arm and can absorb energy with it. Fittingly, Honedge can learn the move Swords Dance, which raises the user's Attack stat.

Honedge is the first dual Steel and Ghost-type Pokémon of the franchise.

The addition of Honedge makes it the 20 confirmed Pokémon of the upcoming generation, with the exclusion of Mewtwo's new form.

"Pokémon X and Y" will launch worldwide on Oct. 12 for the Nintendo 3DS.
