Colin Trevorrow has revealed that he will honor the previous Jurassic Park films in the upcoming fourth installment.
During an interview with Total Film, the "Safety Not Guarenteed" director said that "Jurassic Park 4" would not be much different from the previous works. He said "We don't want to create a new scoop here, but we really want to honor what came before us. We are very aware of how much a certain generation especially cares about this movie and we talk about it all the time in conversations." He continued, "It's not about us, it's not about our careers, it's 'how do we make something that can stand [against the first Jurassic Park]?'"
Trevorrow also said that working on the film has not been that much different from his Indie film. He said, "Surprisingly it's not that different. We have a very small team who we're working with right now."
He also admitted that he was happy to work with Steven Spielberg. He said, "It's incredible to have Steven [Spielberg], who's done this for decades and has such an incredible filmic knowledge and this understanding of the language of story - in a way that for us, is very refreshing. It's not like getting notes from a studio executive."
Treverrow made his feature film debut with "Saftey Not Guarrenteed." The film became a runaway hit and was nominated for two independent spirit awards and won a screenwriting award at the Sundance Film Festival. The film starred Aubrey Plaza, Mark Duplass, Jake Johnson and Karan Soni.
The first "Jurassic Park" was released in 1993 and became an instant classic. The following film was released in 1997 followed by the third film in 2001. However neither film was able to garner the same attention as the first film.
"Jurassic Park 4" is currently slated for release in 2015.
