Fans simply can't get enough Spider-Man. He's everywhere. He's on lunch boxes, posters, Broadway productions, films and much more. His reputation extends far beyond the reach of his web, and it continues to grow.
In anticipation of the upcoming "Amazing Spider-Man 2," Andrew Garfield, who plays Spidey, will swing by Comic-Con as part of Sony's presentation on Friday, July 19. Alongside Garfield will be director Marc Webb (ironic last name for the Spider-Man director) and fellow costars Jamie Foxx, who plays Spidey's nemesis Electro, and Dane DeHann, who plays his old friend, Harry Osborn.
Since production began in spring, behind-the-scene interviews and fan captured videos have leaked their way from the set. Here's a brief roundup of what we know and what we've seen thus far.
For starters, it's likely that we could see Gwen Stacey (Emma Stone) plunge to her death. Several photos that are very reminiscent of the tragic scene depicted in the comic books. Not only that, but Emma Stone even hinted at her character's death in a recent interview.
We've also seen plenty of photos and footage of Spider-Man battling his two foes, Electro and Rhino, played by Paul Giamatti. The footage of Garfield up against helpless Giamatti features an animated Spidey as he makes a mockery of Rhino. Check out the fan captured video here.
Not only that, but a slew of other videos show behind-the-scene looks at several epic NYPD car chase scenes that were shot in Rochester a few months back. At first glance, they look nothing short of spectacular. Check out a couple videos here.
During a recent appearance on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno," Foxx gave fans a sneak peak of his eerie voice he crafted to bring his Electro villain to life, which can be seen below.
In "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," for Peter Parker, life is busy - between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen, high school graduation can't come quickly enough. Peter hasn't forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen's father to protect her by staying away - but that's a promise he just can't keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro, emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn, returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.
"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" is set to hit theaters on May 2, 2014.
