Serena Williams' shocking 6-2, 1-6, 6-4 loss to Germany's Sabine Lisicki should not come as a surprise because the 16-time Grand Slam champion is, after all, human.
This was the words given by his rumored boyfriend and coach Patrick Mouratoglou following the American netter's collapse in fourth round of the Wimbledon Open on Monday at All England Tennis Club.
"She's human," Mouratoglou told USA Today on Monday "You cannot expect for anybody even if she is the greatest player of all time, if she is to be perfect on all the matches all the year. She is not, and she will never be.
"I think still that her low level is better than it was before. But she is a human. She is going to lose some matches, and we have to be ready for that."
Williams entered the second week of play at Wimbledon as a huge favorite to defend her title following the early round losses of her usual finals contenders like Victoria Azarenka and Maria Sharapova.
All of a sudden, the women's singles tournament has become a wide-open competition with everyone still playing having a great shot at capturing the Wimbledon open title.
Meanwhile on Twitter, tennis fans poured out on the micro-blogging site to express their reactions on Serena's surprising exit.
Many followers, especially Williams' fans, showed their disappointment while others gave credit to Lisicki for her incredible feat of beating arguably the best female tennis player in this era.

"Sabine Lisicki's turn to make tennis fans say, “Who?” by eliminating Serena Williams" Not tennis fans. People watching tennis for the week. — Evanesce (@rosulate) July 2, 2013
