William Levy revealed he is happy with his new telenovela "La Tempestad's" rating.
Levy thanked his fan base on Twitter for the support they gave him. He tweeted, "Good morning everyone, thank you for the support and respect you have given el Capitan Fabre and me. You are the best fans and you have converted 'La Tempestad' into a 'trending topic' in Mexico. I love you all and I promise that the series will continue to surprise."
Levy added that the work that he has done with producer Salvador Mejia has been rewarding and an amazing learning experience.
Ever since "La Tempestad" aired in Mexico, the series suffered low ratings and received mixed reviews because of Levy and Ximena Navarrete's lack of chemistry. As a result throughout the past weeks "La Tempestad" has underwent a number of changes. The production team announced that Arturo Peniche and Marianna Seoane would join the novela to boost up ratings. They also cast Rene Casados in a key role and Laura Carmine revealed her character would go through numerous changes in the series.
The telenovela received negative criticism ever since production began in March. William Levy's Cuban accent was criticized for being incomprehensible while Ximena Navarrete's lack of experience was blasted. They were later asked to take acting classes but even then, their lack of chemistry received bad reviews. The actors later defended their work and stated that they were pushing themselves to the best of their abilities and learning from each experience.
"La Tempestad" is based on the popular Colombian series "La Tormenta" which starred Natalia Streignard and Christian Meier. The series also stars, Ivan Sanchez, Jessica Coch, Diana Bracho, Cesar Evora, Alfonso Herrera and Luis Manuel Avila. "La Tempestad" airs in the US in July on Univision.
