Egypt and England will look to salvage their respective tournaments when they face off in the final group match of the U-20 World Cup 2013.
The Egyptians lost their opening two matches against Iraq and Chile by a combined score of 4-2; both games were 2-1 losses. The team will clinch third place with a win but would not be secured a spot in the knockout rounds. The top four third place squads qualify for the round of 16. As it stands three of the current third place teams already have three points.
"We need to win - that is our only option," Egypt captain Ramy Rabia said about his team's predicament during an interview with FIFA.com. "The defeat to Iraq was a big disappointment; I take full responsibility and apologize to the Egyptian people. We haven't changed anything from the team that won the African Championship and I don't think we've played too badly, but this is the nature of football: sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. But, again, I ask that people blame me and not the players. They are young and have their futures ahead, so we must look to find excuses for them."
He added, "We all know we should have done a lot better. But the most important thing for us now is to win and give the Egypt fans something to cheer, because their support for us here in Turkey has been great. The players are all hurt by what has happened but we have looked closely at our mistakes and everyone is determined to turn things around. We still believe we can do something."
England only has two points after earning draws against Chile and Iraq. The team must win in order to have any hopes of qualifying. A victory in this match coupled with a victory between Chile and Iraq would secure second place for England.
Prediction: Egypt and England battle to a 2-2 draw.
