It looks like fans of Fox's musical comedy "Glee" will find a couple of key characters when the show returns this fall for its fifth season. TVLine has reported that four original cast members will not be returning as series regulars in the upcoming season.
According to TVLine, Heather Morris (Brittany), Mark Salling (Puck), Amber Riley (Mercedes) and Harry Shum, Jr. (Mike) are no longer series regulars in the musical dramedy. The casting change isn't much of a surprise, the entertainment site reported, since all of their characters have since graduated from McKinley High. A fifth series original, Dianna Agron (Quinn) was only in a few episodes during the fourth season and is not expected to be back either.
Morris' departure was imminent after she announced that she was pregnant with her first child back in April. Her character Brittany left McKinley High last season after unexpectedly gaining early admission to MIT. As for her fellow New Directions members, most only appeared in a handful of episodes since graduating from the high school.
In other "Glee" news, actor Matthew Morrison, who plays McKinley teacher Will Schuester, announced that he had proposed to girlfriend of two years Renee Puente. E! News reported that news of the engagement was first announced on stage at the White Tie and Tiara ball in London, which was hosted by Elton John and David Furnish.
Morrison then took to Twitter to confirm the news of the engagement. "An incredible night of LOVE @ejaf Ball. I'm going to marry my best friend! Happy day for me and @Renee_Puente." According to E! News, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and singer Elton John took to the stage after the announcement and dedicated a duet of "Your Song" to the engaged couple.
The actor turned singer is currently in Englad promoting his new album Where It All Began, E! News reported.
"Glee" returns for season five on Thursday, September 19 at 9 p.m. EST on Fox.
