Mexican police has reported that Mario Moreno Bernat, the grandson of legendary actor Mario Moreno Cantinflas was found dead in a hotel room in the state of Mexico, according to several Mexican newspapers.
According to the municipal police, a woman who was with Moreno Bernat found the body hanging from a cord in the bathroom of the Santa Cruz hotel, in the Tlanepantla municipality in Mexico state. Moreno Bernat was only 22 years old. Paramedics said that he took his life when his companion left the room.
It is unknown whether Moreno Bernat left a suicide note. The 22-year-old was the son of Mario Moreno Ivanova and Sandra Bernat.
News reports state that in July 2012, Moreno Bernat filed a complaint against his father for corruption of minors. The complaint stated that his father led him to a life of alcohol and drugs at the age of 14.The young man then explained that he had not pressed charges against his father before for fears of further physical and psychological abuse.
At that time, Moreno himself said his drug use was the result of the pernicious influence of his father, but stated that he was in a process of recovery. Mario Moreno "Cantinflas" died in 1993 of lung cancer. Following his death, his family has been involved in several lawsuits desputing his vast estate.
