The third season of "Game of Thrones" may have ended a mere two weeks ago, however, diehards are not to be discouraged. In the early phases of a long drought, fans take to the web to uncover any revealing details surrounding season 4. Why shouldn't they? The premiere may be a ways off, but that doesn't mean fans just have to sit back and wait. No. There's plenty of "Game of Thrones" action to chew on while they yearn for the show's return.
A good jumping off point is George R. R. Martin's original "Game of Thrones" book series. Although the newer series will drift slightly from the plotline that Martin has established in the books, they serve as good indicators as to what is likely to come. For Daenerys (Emilia Clarke), it looks like she may continue her journey through Slaver's Bay before returning to the mainland.
In season 3, Dany freed slaves in both Yunkai and Astaphor, and according to the books, she will be arriving in Mereen in the forthcoming season. Once she's there, one member of her army will have to face the city's finest warrior. Dany selects Strong Belwas, en ex-slave fighter, to face the challenger, and upon his victory, the morale of Dany's army continues to soar as they prepare to claim the throne.
As previously mentioned, the series will drift from the established plotlines as to not inundate the show with too many characters and subplots. Therefore, Wetpaint speculates that the producers may choose to use Daario, Grey Worm or Ser Jorah to fight instead of Belwas. Regardless, Dany presses on to sack Mereen by sending in some of her best men to free several slaves to take the city from within. Learning from her past mistakes, Dany then decides to stay and assume the role of Queen of Mereen.
In addition, Dany discovers that Ser Jorah Mormont was spying on her for King Robert back in season 1. It's unclear whether or not the series will adhere to the books' storyline, however, as it has already addressed the issue. Jorah could let the information slip himself or he could be sent away for an entirely different reason.
"Game of Thrones" will return to HBO next spring.
