Spain will look to clinch a spot in the round of 16 when it takes on Ghana at the U-20 World Cup 2013.
The Spanish started their tournament with an emphatic 4-1 victory over the United States. The match did not always showcase the vintage passing style of La Roja, but did portray the Spaniards as a dangerous attacking side capable of picking apart its opponent's defensive miscues. Jese and Gerard Deulofeu each scored twice for Spain in the victory; the latter was terrific at embarrassing the American defense.
Spain will take on a Ghana side that needs a win to have hopes of qualification. Like the United States, Ghana was dismantled by a superior French side in the opening match and wound up losing 3-1.
"It's not good that we lost, but I believe there were a few things there we could take home," Ghana coach Sellas Tetteh said according to Spy Ghana. "We had a wonderful first half, but we were a little bit sloppy midway in the second half.
He added, "We also conceded [an] early goal. That created a lot of problems for us. We finished the game stronger and that is positive."
A victory for Spain would ensure six points and at least one of the top two spots in the group; the top two teams automatically qualify for the next round while the top four third place sides also get a chance to play in the knockout rounds.
Prediction: Spain destroys Ghana in a 5-0 match.
Start Time: 2 PM EST
TV: The match will be televised on ESPN U.
