Apple Inc. will face a new trial over the term "app store" versus Amazon.com Inc.

According to Bloomberg, officials representing Apple and Amazon have held meetings to settle a potential patent-infringement lawsuit.

One of the meetings was held May 1 with Apple's Chief Intellectual Property attorney BJ Watrous and Amazon's Assistant General Counsel Andrew DeVore. A second meeting was conducted over the phone for 45 minutes on June 14, but no compromise was reached.

Apple is seeking to stop Amazon from using the term "Appstore," which the online service utilizes for devices with Google's Android operating system. Amazon claims the term is generic, and Apple does not have exclusive rights to it.

Bloomberg noted Apple started their "App Store" in 2008 while Amazon commenced their version in March 2011.

The trial has been set for Aug. 19.

The Apple vs. Amazon trial comes as the Cupertino-based organization prepares its second U.S. patent infringement lawsuit against Samsung Electronic Co. The second patent lawsuit with Samsung will include the iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy S3, and Galaxy Note 2, to name a few. Apple recently filed to add the Galaxy S4 to the trial, claiming it violated five of the Cupertino-based company's patents.
