Mexico will look to snap its slump when it takes on Brazil in the Confederations Cup on Wednesday.
The team is coming off a tough 2-1 defeat against Italy in which it failed to dictate the pace or generate scoring chances. The team's latest struggles have brought up questions about their coach Jose de la Torre's future.
"The working relationship we have with 'Chepo' [De la Torre] is a very open one, it's very cordial, and we are committed to it. The best way we can support his work is by doing the right thing in the field. We are calm, we know we have to remedy this current situation," said Mexican keeper Jose Corona. "We have to improve, it becomes clear that there must be a stronger team with better possession of the ball, which will be crucial in the next games."
Regarding his upcoming opponents, the goalie was cautious and praised the growth of the host nation. "Brazil is very good upfront they are dominating and powerful and we must be very careful," said Corona.
Brazil is coming off a solid 3-0 win over Japan that featured a tremendous goal from 21-year old Neymar. The Brazilians rarely gave the Samurais space to maneuver and looked ready to make a deep run in the tournament.
"I liked the team's great tactical evolution,'' Brazilian coach Luis Felipe Scolari said. "The team was well positioned from the beginning. If the players accept this philosophy in all matches, we are capable of beating any opponent.''
He added, "The team is gaining more confidence, and when that happens, your chances of winning increase significantly."
Prediction: Brazil wins 2-0; Neymar scored yet another brilliant goal.
