Univision has confirmed a US date for "La Tempestad."

The network confirmed on June 11 that the William Levy-Ximena Navarrete series would premiere in July. However Univision failed to reveal a time slot. Televisa also confirmed that the telenovela would also begin in Venezuela and Ecuador in the coming months. The company also revealed that the show would air in the United Arab Emirates in 2014.

The telenovela has suffered low ratings since its premiere in Mexico. As a result rumors have circulated about the novela being moved away from its current primetime slot; other rumors state that "La Tempestad" could be replaced by David Zepeda's "Mentir Para Vivir." However producer Salvador Mejia denied the rumors. He also stated that the series would not end early and would not change its hour. He added that he was happy with "La Tempestad's" outcome and that the marketing department had done a terrific job.

Mejia concluded that he is not worried about the speculations and that he would continue to bring an attractive story to the public.

La Tempestad" is said to be the most expensive telenovela ever produced in Mexico. Ever since the Mexican production began filming it has undergone massive criticism. Levy and Navarrete were criticized for taking 16 hours on a kissing scene and were asked to take acting classes because they had no chemistry. The production team also criticized Levy for his hard-to-understand Cuban accent. The producers stated that Levy's Spanish was barely comprehensible and a complete headache; they blamed the problem on Levy's numerous appearances in American television and film.

Levy was also criticized for his hairdo and recently stated that his character would eventually get a new look. The production was also forced to add Arturo Peniche and Mariana Seoanne to the cast.

"La Tempestad" began in May and premiered to mixed reviews. The series also stars, Laura Carmine, Jessica Coch, Diana Bracho, Cesar Evora, Alfonso Herrera and Luis Manuel Avila. A U.S date will soon be announced.
