Dan Henderson and Rashad Evans, both surefire Hall of Fame fighters with championship experience, are all set to go toe-to-toe for probably one last shot at the Light Heavyweight title at UFC 161 on Saturday (10:00 p.m ET) at MTS Center in Winnipeg, Canada.
Henderson is coming off a split decision loss to former champ Lyoto Machida at UFC 157, but the bout also showed that 42-year old MMA legend can still slug it out against tough competition. With this solid performance, Henderson was awarded a showdown with another former champ in Evans.
Like his opponent this Saturday, Evans' MMA career hasn't been pretty after dropping his last two fights against current light heavyweight kingpin Jon Jones at UFC 145 and MMA veteran Antônio Rogério Nogueira at UFC 156, both via unanimous decision. Evans needs to pick things altogether for him to get another significant shot at UFC title.
Henderson (29-9) and Evans (17-3-1) are expected to give their best in what could be a career-defining match at the point of their MMA days. A loss would only mean the end of an era for one of these fighters, while a victory paves way for a chance to face the undisputed king of the light heavyweight - Bones.
In the supporting bout, rising star Roy Nelson will attempt to further boost his stock as a legitimate heavyweight contender, facing Croatian brawler Stipe Miocic.
