The Boston Bruins will look to even the Stanley Cup Finals when they face the Chicago Blackhawks in Game 2 on Saturday.
The Bruins held a commanding 3-1 lead in the third period but gave up two late goals and lost in triple overtime. However, the team is not dwelling on the defeat and is ready to respond in Game 2.
"Last time we won the Cup [in 2011], we lost the first two games to Vancouver," Bruins coach Claude Julien said. "It never stopped us from coming back. This certainly won't."
"You can dwell on it as much as you want but at the end of the day you've got to be able to turn the page and focus on Game 2," Boston forward Milan Lucic said. "Shoulda, woulda, coulda is not going to get you anywhere. It's not going to win us a game in the end. And I think we need to focus on Game 2 as fast as we can."
Lucic scored twice in the effort and had a prime chance to win it in double overtime.
Boston may have to pull off the victory without one of its top forwards Nathan Horton. The winger left the game during overtime and never returned. Horton has 18 goals in 17 postseason games and has an astounding +22 defensive rating.
"You look at what he's accomplished and he's a big part of our team," Julien said. "He had a bit assist on the [Milan] Lucic goal on Wednesday. He's listed day-to-day right now, so we'll see."
"It [stinks]," Lucic said. "Everyone knows how big of a player he is for us, especially in the playoffs. He's also shown that he can score big goals at big times."
Prediction: Boston evens the series with a 2-1 victory.
