The playable character for "Pokémon X and Y" has met its rivals - three of them.
The sixth-generation Pokémon franchise will start in Vaniville Town in the region of Kalos. The player will have the option of playing as a male or female character, named Calum and Serena.

If the player chooses to play as Calum, whose name can be changed as with previous games, then Serena will be part of the group of rivals. The reverse can be said if the player chooses to play as Serena.
The player will be introduced to Shauna, touted to be an "incredibly" energetic girl. She is set to be on a journey to find a dream of her own. With her friendly and outgoing personality, Shauna is said to be genuinely curious with the player's progress throughout the game.
Tierno, despite his looks, is the dancer of the group. His dream is to create a dance team with his Pokémon, which causes him to be easily distracted during Pokémon battles as he tries to incorporate moves into dances.
Finally, there is Trevor, the competitive member of the group. His goal is to be the first to complete the Pokédex.
Serena and Calum are neighbors in Vaniville Town, each wanting to become a powerful Pokémon Trainer.
As Latinos Post reported, the first gym leader of the sixth-generation is professional photographer Viola of Santalune City. Players will also get to know Viola through her sister Alexa, a journalist from Lumiose City. Viola is the first-ever female Bug-type gym leader of the franchise following Bugsy of the second generation and Burgh from the fifth-generation games.
"Pokémon X and Y" will launch worldwide on Oct. 12 with a suggested retail price of $39.99, exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS.
