Idolized Hollywood superstars can seem invincible. Of course, there are several exceptions that come to mind, however others maintain their pristine, graceful image, sitting pretty atop a pedestal of serenity. Although nobody is perfect. Nobody is impenetrable. Everyone suffers misfortune from time to time, no matter who they are. This time around, one of "The Vampire Diaries" biggest stars experienced a dose of ill fate when his Twitter account was hacked.
Late last night and early this morning, a hacker broke into Ian Somerhalder's Twitter account and posted some unsavory comments. "The Vampire Diaries" executive producer Julie Plec even had to publically announce that something had happened to his account before the charade was even over.
Somerhalder even got in contact with his hacker after the fact, who said, "lol I know you're probably pissed but I have nothing but respect for you - was just having a little fun. No hard feelins? :p"
"Let mw know how I can make it up to you (or block me if you want), I won't message you again unless you respond - Peace," he or she added.
Somerhalder took a cordial approach to the situation, although I'm sure he's not planning on befriending his hacker anytime soon.
"Really not cool... I appreciate the message though.. Yes, please stop. Have a great day." Somerhalder posted a snapshot of the conversation on his Instagram, which spawned a long thread of comments praising Somerhalder for his kindness, big heart and apologetic approach. So in the end, it looks like no one was hurt and the "Vampire Diaries" actor even got a bit of good press.
Somerhalder moved passed the incident and resumed filming on "The Anomaly" today. In "The Anomaly," Somerhalder will star alongside Alexis Knapp, Brian Cox and Luke Hemsworth in Noel Clarke's upcoming film. "The Anomaly" is a sci-fi thriller that follows a former soldier who awakens in the back of a van with a young kidnapped victim by this side. He soon realizes that he has only nine minutes and 37 seconds to get a handle on the tense situation at hand. It's unclear as to why the soldier has such an odd allotted time period to figure things out, but perhaps that's all part of hype.
