The quarterfinal round of the Gerry Weber Open will be a treat in the eyes of the home crowd as four Germans look to buy a spot in the semifinal round of the prestigious grass court event in Halle, Germany.
Kicking off the quarterfinal slates on Friday will be the match between former world's no.1 Roger Federer and unheralded German netter Mischa Zverev.
Federer, a five-time champion in the tournament, is fresh from booking an easy 6-3, 6-3 win over wild-card entry Cedrik-Marcel Stebe on Wednesday. Zverev, on other hand, is coming off a couple of gutty victories against David Goffin in the first round, 1-6, 6-4, 7-5, and Mirza Bašić, 7-6, 6-3 in the second round.
Also trying to secure another semifinal appearance in Halle are former champions Tommy Haas and Philipp Kohlschreiber.
Haas, a two-time winner in Halle, will take on Frenchman Gael Monfils in the third match while Kohlschreiber, the 2011 champion, will play Russian Mikhail Youzhny in the second game of the day. The other quarterfinal battle will be between Frenchman Richard Gasquet and German Florian Mayer.
At the AEGON Championship, Britain's no.1 Andy Murray attempts to secure his place in the finals when he plays Germany's Benjamin Becker.
Former US Open winner Juan Martin Del Potro will take center stage on Friday, facing former Wimbledon Open titlist Lleyton Hewitt. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga will also take on Dennis Kuda while the clash between Marin Cilic-Tomas Berdych will kick off the competition in Queens.
First quarterfinal match of the Gerry Weber Open will start at 6:00 a.m ET while the opening game of AEGON Championship quarterfinals is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m ET.
