'Pokémon X and Y' Pokédex: 6 New Pokémon Confirmed, Evolutions Named Before October 12 Worldwide Release Date [Slideshow]

The upcoming sixth-generation Pokémon franchise will see six confirmed new Pokémon, from land and sea, to sky.

Information for "Pokémon X and Y," which will be exclusive for the Nintendo 3DS, skyrocketed this week with confirmation of a new type for Sylveon, a release date, new battling features, and new Pokémon.

The first new Pokémon is known as the Sound Wave Pokémon, Noivern. A Flying-and-Dragon-type Pokémon, Noivern is touted as "extremely combative" and will attack anything that comes close to it. Thanks to its ears, Noivern uses the ultrasonic waves as an attack to its opponent. The Sound Wave Pokémon will come with a new Normal-type move called Boomburst, which releases an "explosive" sound wave against all surrounding Pokémon.

New Bug-and-Flying-type Pokémon Vivillon reportedly has a secret behind the colorful decorative pattern on its wings, which it uses to create a strong wind attacks. Vivillon can learn the Bug-type move Struggle Bug, which lowers the Special Attack of the opposing Pokémon it hits. Although The Pokémon Company International, or Game Freak Inc., has yet to formally announce the following, Vivillon is the evolution for Spewpa, which was confirmed on international versions of the official "Pokémon X and Y" website except for the U.S. edition.

Talonflame, a Fire-and Flying-type Pokémon, is the evolved form of Fletchling. Capable of reaching speeds up to 310 miles per hour when diving for its prey, Talonflame utilizes the move Brave Bird. Talonflame can also participate in the new Sky Battles feature.

The Water Gun Pokémon Clauncher has one oversized claw capable of shooting condensed water at opponents. A Water-type Pokémon, Clauncher can use the Water-type move Crabhammer, capable of landing critical hits.

The Poison-and-Water-type Pokémon Skrelp looks like a piece of kelp, but it uses its appearance to poison others. Skrelp uses the Poison-type move Sludge Bomb, a move that can leave opposing Pokémon poisoned.

As the upcoming games will launch worldwide simultaneously on Oct. 12, players also have the ability to select the language of the game from among seven options: English, Japanese, French, Italian, German, Korean, and Spanish.
