In the blink of an eye, the third season of "Game of Thrones" flew by, leaving a path of utter destruction in its wake. Season 3 featured anguished death, frustrating betrayal and the anticipation of impending battle. The ten episodes were brief, insufficient, not enough to quench our "Game of Thrones" thirst. Not too worry though, because Winter is still on the way. Season 4 will soon follow, and there are plenty of details to help fans prepare themselves for what's on the horizon.

Based on George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series, fans can easily speculate on what's to come in the fourth season. For starters, King Joffrey will finally get the axe. The little tyrant's reign of terror will come to end when he's poisoned at his own wedding, allowing fans breathe easy. But who will take over the throne?

Tywin Lannister seems like he's be able to weasel his way into the crown, but alas, he too meets his maker at the hands of his youngest son. According to the book, his youngest, Tyrion Lannister, will find his woman, Shae, in Tywin's bed, and he turns to kill her as well.

Up north, Jon Snow will likely survive, at least for another season or two. Ygritte on the other hand, is not as lucky. She is killed during a Wilding attack on the Wall.

Meanwhile, Maisie Williams, who plays Arya, thinks her character "doesn't really have a goal anymore" and believes we might see a "darker," less honorable side of the youngest Stark girl, according to Wet Paint.

Arya, among the other children on the show, are growing up quickly. While speaking to Entertainment Weekly, showrunner David Benioff informed fans that next season would have a stronger focus on the children, in particular Isaac Hempsted Wright, who plays Bran Stark.

"Isaac's voice is changing. Everyone is getting bigger," he said. "We have this wonderful cast, but we don't have an infinite amount of time... We don't want to become a show that outstays its welcome and tries to turn each book into three seasons."

Not only that, but season 4 could stray from the books established plotline. "The series has already reached a point where there are so many characters, particularly in season three we're introducing so many new ones, we run the risk of bursting at the seams as we try to cram every single subplot," Benioff said.

Looking forward, there may be some new surprises in season 4, so fans should brace themselves. "Game of Thrones" will return to HBO next spring.
