William Levy's new telenovela "La Tempestad" is undergoing radical changes to maintain its primetime slot in Mexico.
The new series has suffered low ratings ever since it began in Mexico back in May. Audiences have not responded to the novela because of Ximena Navarrete and Levy's lack of chemistry. Additionally they have complained about Levy's look and his bad Spanish acccent.
As a result Televisa has already made radical changes to the story by adding a new villain which will be interpreted by famed Mexican actress Mariana Seoane. The actress will play a seductress who will complicate the protagonists' love story.
Additionally Arturo Peniche will join the cast and will play a role that will be important to the end of the series.
However if the show is unable to garner better ratings, Televisa is thinking of changing "La Tempestad's" time and replace it with either "Mentir Para Vivir" which stars David Zepeda and Mayrin Villanueva or the upcoming "Libre Para Amarte" starring Gloria Trevi.
"La Tempestad" is said to be the most expensive telenovela ever produced in Mexico. Ever since the Mexican production began filming it has undergone its ups and downs. Levy and Navarrete were criticized for taking 16 hours on a kissing scene and were asked to take acting classes because they had no chemistry. The production team also criticized Levy for his hard-to-understand Cuban accent. The producers stated that Levy's Spanish was barely comprehensible and a complete headache; they blamed the problem on Levy's numerous appearances in American television and film.
Levy was also criticized for his hairdo and recently stated that his character would eventually get a new look.
"La Tempestad" began in May and premiered to mixed reviews. The series also stars, Laura Carmine, Jessica Coch, Diana Bracho, Cesar Evora, Alfonso Herrera and Luis Manuel Avila. A U.S date will soon be announced.
