On the six-month anniversary of the tragic death of Mexican music sensation Jenni Rivera, her mother Doña Rosa felt that the family should pay tribute to the star in a special ceremony. The event was attended by her surviving family members Rosie, Pedro Jr., and the daughter of Jenni, Jackie, Mexican news agency Notimex reports.
The reunion in honor of Jenni Rivera took place in the city of Long Beach, Calif., in a Christian church according to Latin entertainment show "El Gordo y La Flaca".
"Every day is a little harder, Every day you realize that you need your child? A child is something that is very sacred, you never expect your child to die, it will always be a tragedy" Doña Rosa, Jenni's mother said at the event.
The mother of Rivera says that it is important for them as a family to stick together and ensure the welfare of the children of Jenni. "Juan is very close to the children, Rosie is with them too, Gustavo helps out in any way he can, Pedro, Pastor and Lupillo, are also too," said Doña Rosa in reference to Jenni's siblings and close friends.
Doña Rosa mentioned that there is never a shortage of flowers and gifts where the remains of Jenni Rivera are currently are placed, a clear indication of how loved the star was among her fans.
Jenni Rivera fans gathered outside All Souls Cemetery and released white and red balloons with background music from Jenni to honor the singers memory.
The family announced last month that it would be going ahead with plans that Jenni had before dying in the plane crash of opening a record label to promote aspiring Latino singers.
JRE/Divina Music, is located in Los Angeles and has already signed bilingual singer Monica Padilla. The label will also include a project by sibling Juan Rivera in addition to a Christian themed album by Rivera's daughter Jackie, who performed at her mother's memorial.
Rosie Rivera, the administrator of her sister's estate, said in a statement that her sister "had many expectations of this project ... we are putting a lot of energy to complete her dreams."
