The First Lady of Mexico, Angélica Rivera, took First Lady of China Peng Liyuan on a trip through Mexico's largest telenovela production studios in Televisa San Angel in southern Mexico City.

The trip happened amidst the official visit of Chinese president Xi Jinping.

Among the stars recording scenes when the visit took place were William Levy and Ximena Navarrete who were working on the soap opera "La Tempestad." The protagonists of the melodrama said they were honored with the visit of the wives of the presidents of Mexico and China, and the stars took the opportunity to talk with China's First Lady about the impact and success Latin American telenovelas have had in her country.

"This was an incredible visit! We are always glad to welcome loved ones like Angelica Rivera. We are happy that they came to see what we do," said the former Miss Universe.

"The important thing is that this experience enriches us, because the work being done in Mexico is known worlwide, Televisa has reached a worldwide audience and this is a celebration of it. It is the work we are doing that these countries are buying to see, that's what matters here and it's important that we teach them a little of what makes Televisa what it is and how we make what they ultimately end up watching and enjoying," added Cuban sex symbol Levy.

The first ladies visited the Televisa sets of "La Tempestad," "De que te quiero, te quiero" and "Corazón indomable," where they were cordially greeted by telenovela actors Elizabeth Alvarez, Marcelo Cordoba, Ana Brenda Contreras, Cynthia Klitbo, Livia Brito and Daniel Arenas.

According to people close to the Chinese First Lady, Liyuan is a fan of Mexican telenovelas and always longed to know the process of how the shows were made. Mexican first lady Angelica Rivera had a succesful career as a telenovela superstar in Mexico where she is affectionately nicknamed "La Gaviota" in reference to a character she played in a recent telenovela.
