La Chilindrina And Kiko Actors Criticize 'El Chavo' Creator During TV Reunion

Forty years after its premiere, "El Chavo," Mexico's most famous series in history, still draws attention. The actors who played the roles of La Chilindrina and Kiko were reunited in the program "Un Nuevo Día," on Mexican TV network Telemundo and then launched into a critique of Roberto Gómez Bolaños, author and actor of the unforgettable "Chavo." 

Carlos Villagran (Kiko) and Maria Antonieta de las Nieves (The Chilindrina) appeared on the television show on a stage inspired by the neighborhood of "El Chavo del 8," with the series' theme song playing. The actors both performed a short comedy sketch in which they referred to Chespirito (Gómez Bolaños) without naming him. They also referenced the character of Doña Florinda (Florinda Meza) and when Kiko threatened La Chilindrina with accusing her with his mom, but immediately regretted, 'No, no with that old lady anymore. She's taking care of the other one now,' he said.

Children of Florinda and Don Ramon, played by the deceased Ramón Valdés, did not rule out the idea of ​​doing a show together, despite the dispute they had with Bolaños over the legal rights of the characters. But when asked about the possibility of adding Chespirito into the project, Villagran was blunt.

II don't get together with that rabble anymore, which smells like sulfur! Roberto Gómez Bolaños let himself be carried away by money. He registered everything in his name: the face of (Ramon) Valdes, my face, my cheeks, he doesn't have to own my cheeks," he said. 

María Antonieta de las Nieves also joined the criticism of the creator of the most watched Spanish series in the United States.

"Chespirito has his point of view and I have mine, then, everyone defends his point of view and that led into a lawsuit," the actress said, as reported by People en Español.

And Villagran also offered an opinion on the issue.

"Kiko is mine, I made him, he didn't even know that I puffed cheeks, he didn't know I could cry making a sound like that. But when he saw the money he said: 'I'll register it as mine,' and he did. And, well, there is that mister. I'm working, I'm happy. I'm very, very happy, never claimed to be a millionaire, but yes to be happy," he said. 

And his companion, who participated in last season of "Mira quién baila" on Univision, concluded by saying that "the demand is in hand of the lawyers. I don't know how it is going, I hope that we win, because I've been with this issue for 12 years. Chespirito has the support of Televisa, which is a huge support, so what I can do if I'm a louse of this size against that great monster. I can't do anything but commend myself to God, and God is helping me."
