More vampire mayhem is quickly approaching. The overbearing summer months may seem inescapable, but the thought of new "True Blood" on the horizon helps ease the heat trauma. In anticipation of the upcoming sixth season, Anna Paquin, who plays Sookie Stackhouse, and other members of the "True Blood" team opened up about how her character will have to adapt to the impending vampire drama.
"This season, the writers and I have been making a concentrated effort to help Sookie grow up, become a little bit darker, more accepting of her fate, more self-knowing," said Brian Buckner in an interview with Manhattan Magazine.
Not only will fans be seeing a darker, grittier side of Sookie, but she'll also be maturing sexually, taking a more aggressive approach to the many handsome male vampires on the show.
"Things left off in a pretty serious place in regards to where Eric and I leave Bill having just turned into this creature of the blood with these monster fangs - and who the hell knows what that is?" said Paquin during the same interview. "So obviously, that situation has to [play] out. And we have new cast members this year, and that's always fun to have fresh blood, if you'll pardon the pun."
And Sookie won't be the only one displaying her more ferocious side in season 6. The new Bill will also be striking fear into fans' hearts.
"Is he going to be evil? What does he want? What is he going to do?" said former showrunner Alan Ball. "Will he be able to revert back to Bill? That's for future seasons. The implication, certainly, is that he is more ferocious."
No matter what happens, season 6 promises to be just as exciting and invigorating as those prior. "True Blood" will return to HBO on Sunday, June 16. Read the episode 1 synopsis below.
