The third season of CBS' drama 'Blue Bloods' wrapped up just a month ago but fans are already clamoring for details regarding the upcoming season. Well the wait is over. Fans will be happy to learn that the series has finally found actress' Jennifer Esposito's replacement in Marisa Ramirez.

The Hollywood Reporter was the first to report that Ramirez was promoted to series regular after a recurring arc towards the end of the third season as Det. Maria Baez. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Ramirez's character will now take up the role of full-time partner for Donnie Wahlberg's Det. Danny Reagan.

Ramirez told the Hollywood Reporter, "It all still feels a bit surreal. From the first day, everyone was so welcoming. Working with Donnie and the cast and crew of 'Blue Bloods' can spoil a girl. Total pros, each and every one, and all so supportive. I just enjoyed every minute. Truly, I never dreamed I would be coming back as a regular. To say I am grateful is an understatement."

TVLine reported that Ramirez was one of three actresses who worked to fill the void left by Esposito's departure in October. Esposito, who played the lead female character of Jackie Curatola, left the series after being placed on medical leave for Celiac disease. She was briefly replaced by Megan Ketch (Det. Kate Lansing), Megan Boone (Candice) and finally by Ramirez.

Esposito's departure from the series caused a bit of controversy back in October, after she alleged the network didn't give her the "very limited part-time schedule" she requested due to her illness and that it kept her from working elsewhere.

'Blue Bloods' season 4 returns Fridays this fall on CBS.
