The Sharks will look to win their first road game of this series when they face the Los Angeles Kings in Game 7 on Tuesday.
San Jose won all three home games by the score of 2-1 but has been unable to pull off a victory at the Staples Center. If they hope to prolong their season, they will have to find a way to achieve the feat.
"I'll never forget the worst moment, losing a game 7 [in the Cup Final]," Sharks forward Scott Gomez said.
"[Devils general manager Lou] Lamoriello always said it best, 'When it comes to Game 7, if you can look yourself in the mirror after and know you gave it your all, that's what it's about.' I'll always remember him saying that."
The Kings won the Stanley Cup last season, but never had to worry about Game 7. The team was only pushed to a Game 6 in the final round by the New Jersey Devils. Despite the inexperience in the situation, the team feels confident in its chances.
"You've also got guys that have played in an Olympic gold medal game, which is probably the equivalent of a Game 7," Los Angeles Captain Dustin Brown said about the defining game.
"Guys have experience in big games. You look at a group of our guys [who] have won world juniors ... those final games in those world juniors and world championships and Olympics, those are Game 7s. It's a matter of using that experience and trying to get yourself ready."
The Kings have yet to lose a game at the Staples Center this postseason. They won three home games against St. Louis in the first round before repeating the feat against the Sharks in this series. The Kings also boasted the best home record in the NHL this season.
Prediction: San Jose pulls off the upset with a 2-1 win.
