Season two of the CW's hit dramedy 'Hart of Dixie' may have ended but a few details of the upcoming season have come to light. During the finale, Zoe (Rachel Bilson) left for a summer in New York City to clear her mind after a heartbreaking break-up with Wade (Wilson Bethel) and an unplanned love confession to George (Scott Porter).
In a last-minute effort to save his relationship with Zoe, Wade caught up with her before she left and said he wanted one last chance. Unfortunately for Wade, and hardcore Zade shippers, Zoe told the handsome bar owner that she needed some time to reevaluate their relationship. Fans will be happy to know that won't be the end of Zade's complicated relationship.
According to TVLine, executive producer Leila Gerstein said that Wade's cheating and the couple's breaking up "was never intended to be the end" of their relationship. Actor Wilson Bethel helped add to Zade fans' hopes by saying that a fully developed Zoe-Wade "scenario" in the upcoming season "seems pretty logical." Bethal added, "It's probably good that there's a bit of anticipation about what she will do" come the fall.
In an interview with TV Fanatic during the CW Upfronts, Bethal also said that he hopes his character does a lot of maturing and that he'd like Wade to "be happily in love with Zoe" in the upcoming third season. Zade fans are sure to agree. You can catch Bethel's interview with TV Fanatic below.
Meanwhile, cast-mate Jamie King's newly announced pregnancy could add a burden for the writers regarding her character's development. Fans will remember that the season finale left Lemon (King) happily in charge of the Rammer Jammer along with Wade and somewhat more independent.
According to Carter Matt, the series could take the pregnancy in a number of ways. They could write King out for a period of time, although that option would severely interfere with Lemon's storyline. Producers could also opt to write in the actress' pregnancy into the series, although that too seems unlikely. What is left is opting to use camera angles and post-production to hide King's pregnancy altogether.
'Hart of Dixie' returns to the CW for its third season this fall.
