John Williams has confirmed that he would love to do "Star Wars Episode 7."
The legendary composer told Zap2it that he has talked to director J.J. Abrams about making a return to the franchise. He stated, "We've certainly talked about that, and I'm happy and willing to do it."
Williams also told the online journal that he was excited about all the technological innovations in the industry and added that he was interested in seeing what Abrams would do with the franchise.
He stated, 'We now have the benefit of all this computer simulation and technical work that wasn't even possible 20 or 25 years ago. I don't know how hands-on George Lucas will be - I suspect he will be to some degree - but I can only imagine how excited he must be, to have a director like JJ have all these tools at his fingertips to produce something even more adventurous technologically. I can't wait to see what he will do with it."
Williams last composed the score to Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln" for which he received an Academy Award Nomination. He also worked on Spielber's 2011 films "War Horse" and "The Adventures of Tintin;" he received many nominations for both films. William's collaboration with Abrams would be the first time the composer works with a director not named Steven Spielberg since 2005 when he composed the scores to Lucas' "Star Wars Episode 3" and Rob Marshall's "Memoirs of a Geisha."
"Episode 7" is currently in pre-production and it was recently revealed that Abrams wanted Williams to return to the series. Abrams also said that he would collaborate with original Star Wars creator George Lucas.
According to the IMDB page Abrams' frequent editing team of Maryann Brandon and Mary Jo Markey are already confirmed as editors while Darren Gilford is also credited as the production designer. Costume designer Michael Kaplan will create the wardrobe.
Disney also revealed that the film would start shooting in 2014 in the UK.
"Star Wars Episode 7" will be released in 2015 with Kathleen Kennedy producing and Michael Arndt writing the script.
