An earthquake hit the far north-eastern side of California on Thursday. With a magnitude of 5.7, the quake was felt as far as San Francisco and even in two other nearby states. Thankfully, no injuries or serious damages were reported.

The earthquake happened at around 8:47 pm on Thursday, centering on Greenville in north east California. According to US Geological Survey's National Earthquake Center geophysicist, Rafael Abreu, the shakes were centered just 25 miles off south west Susanville.

No major damage has been reported, aside from the typical broken dishes and falling objects.

Among those who felt the quake the most were couple's Susan Shephard and Alan Shephard. The Guardian reported that the couple were watching The Hunger Games on TV when the shaking began, causing the whole building to vibrate.

"All of a sudden things started falling off the shelves, mirrors fell off the wall, vases fell down to the floor, everything started crashing," the couple who owns Quail Lodge at Lake Almanor told the Guardian. "It felt like the end of our world."

According to the same report, a Plumas County sheriff's office dispatcher said the phones were ringing continuously from people asking about the incident; however, no reported damages or injuries were filed.

Thousands of people from outside the area have felt the shaking as well. The US Geological Survey reports that even people from as far as Oregon and Nevada felt the earthquake. A TV channel even reported that shaking could be felt 125 miles from the center of the quake, at downtown Sacramento.

"People in the area felt a strong jolt, but it was not enough to generate serious damage, based on early field reports," explained Abreu to the Guardian.

So far this morning, aftershocks have already been felt in the area, including a 4.9-magnitude shake that struck early Friday.
