Mexican soccer Legend Cuauhtemoc Blanco, who currently plays for The Dorados of Sinaloa, and his former team mate Germán Villa, who is now retired, were caught by paparazzis in Mexico City when police stopped their vehicle for running a red light after a long night of partying at a nightclub.
Cuauhtemoc Blanco is best known for his illustrious career on Mexican soccer team America, which spanned over fifteen years. He was also one of the most prominent forwards in Mexico's National Team for three World Cups. Blanco is considered one of Mexico's greatest soccer players. He was hired by second division team Dorados of Sinaloa last year in the team's effort to ascend to the first division.
German Villa played in America for a record 18 years and was considered one of Mexico fiercest defenders before retiring in 2010.
When Blanco's white BMW was approached by the policeman to lift the respective fine, 'Cuau,' who was the driver who started joking with the Mexico City agents and even took pictures with them. Villa then got out of the car and started dancing with one of the officers, who seemed to forget that the two players had just committed a traffic infraction and treated them as soccer superstars. Blanco was set free with only a warning.
The incident, which was caught on tape began around 5 AM after both players left a nightclub in the upscale Polanco district of Mexico City, accompanied by a small group of friends.
Villa seemed to be having a lot of fun earlier in the night when he accepted Blanco's challenge and stole a bucket and a mop from the club and put the items in the trunk of the vehicle.
Blanco and Villa are known to be good friends since their days playing together in Club America and will surely be glued to the screen tonight when their former team clashes with Cruz Azul in the first leg of the Mexican league's final tonight at 10 PM ET.
