J.J Abrams has recruited his costume designer Michael Kaplan to work on "Star Wars Episode 7."
The costume designer confirmed the news in an interview with Buzzfeed.
"Everything just got formalized [last week], I haven't even had the chance to talk to anyone about it all other than to be told 'welcome aboard.' It's a little too soon to know exactly what's in store. But I'm excited, absolutely, to get to work on another prestigious sci-fi series."
Kaplan is not the only one who seems to be on board for the new film. According to the "Episode 7" IMDB page, Abrams' frequent editing team Maryann Brandon and Mary Jo Markey are already confirmed as editors. Darren Gilford is also credited as the production designer on the page.
Kaplan is best known for his work "Star Trek: Into Darkness," "Se7en," "Fight Club" and "Blade Runner," for which he won a BAFTA award. Brandon and Markey have edited three of Abrams' films, including "Mission Impossible 3" and the two "Star Trek" films.
Gilford has three film credits to his name and he recently designed the blockbuster hits "Oblivion" and "Tron Legacy."
The film is currently in pre-production with Abrams attached to direct. Recently Abrams revealed that he wanted John Williams to return to score the iconic series and that he would be collaborating with George Lucas on the new film.
Disney also revealed that the film would start shooting in 2014 and that it would be shot in the UK.
"Location bosses feel Scotland possesses stunning scenery perfect for movie backdrops. They will look great on the big screen and the rock formations will replicate the perception of mountainous planets. It will be the first time Star Wars has ever been shot north of the border," the studio said.
Star Wars Episode 7 will be released in 2015 with Kathleen Kennedy producing and Michael Arndt writing the script.
