Nature can give us some of the most beautiful moments, however, the forces of nature are also some of the phenomena that we should be the most frightened of. The tragic event that took place in Oklahoma is an example of how nature has the power to obliterate an entire community in just minutes. The tornado, which only touched down for 35 to 40 minutes, was able to bring down houses and schools and take the lives of many people who lived in the Sooner state, many of the them being Hispanics.

According to reports, an estimated 5,000 hispanics were affected by the tornado.

The Hispanic population has been growing in the state. And according to an article written in 2011, the Hispanic population in Oklahoma has increased 85 percent, making it one of the largest minority groups in the state---even larger than the Native American population in the area.

A Mexican man, Miguel Macias, was one of the victims of the monstrous tornado. He narrates a story of horror trying to evacuate his children from school, but faced an obstacle once the facilities were locked down. Macias went through a living hell going from hospital to hospital searching for his child. Fortunately, Macias was able to find his two boys alive with no more than some injuries, but many were not as fortunate.

And although natural disasters, such as the Oklahoma tornado bring great grief to the people, they also show the charitable spirit in people. Several organizations have stepped forward to help the victims. One of these organizations is the Agency For Development Of The Latino Community. The organization has been working for over 20 years helping the community, especially in the sector of metal health and stability. This agency emphasizes the psychological importance there is in the treatment of people after such a traumatic and life changing experience. Through therapy, the organization wants to help the community understand how to cope with the disastrous events they lived through. Trying to return to normal life after a great portion of the community was destroyed is not going to be an easy task. But the brave people from Oklahoma will continue fighting together to overcome this tragedy.
