Seth MacFralane has revealed that he will not be hosting next year's Oscars.

The comic actor and director confirmed the news via Twitter. He wrote, "Traumatized critics exhale: I'm unable to do the Oscars again." He added, "Tried to make it work schedule-wise, but I need sleep." He added that he believed Joaquin Phoenix should host the Academy Awards.

The actor recently landed a new role in the Fox comedy "Dads," and is working on a western and a "Ted" sequel. In February MacFarlane was criticized for his performance at the Oscars as many claimed that he was insulting and dragged the show. He then vowed never to host again. He advocated for Amy Poehler and Tina Fey to host the show after their critically praised performance at the Golden Globes.

Back in April the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that the Craig Zadan and Neil Meron would return as producers. The Academy President Howard Koch told the LA Times, "We believe that continuity is the most important thing. One of the problems we have every year is that you always have a new producer and a new host - there's so much learning." They added "Craig and Neil have great relationships, a sense of showmanship, and a passion for our Academy. And they're a pleasure to work with.  All perfect qualities for our show."

Jimmy Kimmel and Justin Timberlake are currently rumored to host but no details have been revealed.

Many Oscar contenders have already emerged including "American Hustle" with Bradley Cooper and Lawrence, "August: Osage County" with Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts, and George Clooney's "The Monuments Men." Other films include "Serena" with Lawrence, "Rush," Steve McQueen's "Twelve Years a Slave," "Wolf of Wall Street" with Leonardo Dicaprio and "Labor Day" with Kate Winslet.

The Academy Awards will air on March 2, 2014.
