It seems like casting has begun on "Star Wars Episode VII" as Jonathan Rhys Meyers is a possible candidate for the new film.

According to Latino Review, the Irish star is in talks to act in the new film. However the publication failed to mention what role he would be playing the film. Latino Review stated that Rhys Meyers was already acquainted with director J.J Abrams because they had worked together on "Mission Impossible 3."

The information has not been confirmed and his representatives have yet to issue a statement.

Rhys Meyers is best known for his work on "The Tudors" in which he played the infamous King Henry the VIII.  He won a Golden Globe for his work on "Elvis" and was nominated twice for "The Tudors." He is also known for his role on "Match Point" in which he starred alongside Scarlet Johansson. He was last seen in "Albert Nobbs" and is slated to star in the new TV series "Dracula."

"Star Wars Episode 7" is currently in pre-production with Abrams attached to direct and set to shoot in the early part of 2014. The production team has recently revealed that they will shoot in UK; Scotland will be one of the major points of interest.  Location scouts stated "Location bosses feel Scotland possesses stunning scenery perfect for movie backdrops. They will look great on the big screen and the rock formations will replicate the perception of mountainous planets. It will be the first time Star Wars has ever been shot north of the border."Additionally it was confirmed that George Lucas will collaborate with Abrams on the new film.

Recent casting rumors include Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford but nothing has yet to be confirmed. Billy Dee Williams, Anthony Daniels and Ian McDiarmid have shown interest in returning to their iconic role but the studio has yet to approach the actors.

Kathleen Kennedy will produce the script by Michael Arndt with Disney set to distribute "Star Wars Episode 7" in 2015.
