The largest jackpot in Powerball history may well go to a single ticket holder in Florida.
Lottery officials in the Sunshine state have announced one ticket sold at the Publix supermarket in Zephyrhills, Fla., picked all the numbers for the recoded-setting $590 million award: 10, 13, 14, 22, 52 and 11.
Florida Lottery executive Cindy O'Connell told the Associated Press by telephone more details would be released later.
"This would be the sixth Florida Powerball winner and right now, it's the sole winner of the largest ever Powerball jackpot," O'Connell told AP. "We're delighted right now that we have the sole winner."
The identity of the jackpot winner was not immediately made public and O'Connell, speaking to the just hours after Saturday's drawing, did not indicate whether anyone had already stepped forward with the winning ticket.
Powerball.com said that since there was a winner in Saturday night's drawing, the current estimated jackpot resets to $40 million --- or $25.1 million in cash value.
"Powerball was redesigned to have larger jackpots more often, but it was also redesigned to create lots of millionaires, and it's succeeding on both levels," Chuck Strutt, executive director of the Multi-State Lottery Association, was quoted saying in a report by USA Today.
Strutt reminds players to check their tickets to see if they any of the lottery's lesser prizes - which could be as high as $1 million or $2 million.
A reported 33 tickets matched the first five numbers, which means each of those tickets are due $1 million, according to the AP.
In addition to the Powerball frenzy, two winning jackpot tickets were sold in Friday's $190 million Mega Millions drawing.
The winning tickets in the Mega Millions drawing were bought in New Jersey and Virginia, according to a news release on the lottery's website. The winning numbers were: 11, 15, 35, 43, 49 and a Mega Ball of 41.
The largest ever lottery prize --- a $656 million Kega Millions jackpot ---was divided up between winners in Illinois, Kansas and Maryland in March 2012.
Saturday's drawing surpassed the previous $587.5 million Powerball record set in November 2012.
