The running time for "Man of Steel" has been confirmed.

According to Den of Geek, the latest Superman film will run for approximately two hours and 23 minutes or 143 minutes.

The length of the film seems to be in line with the running times of other films by "Man of Steel" producer Christopher Nolan as the "Dark Knight" helmer has been known for making lengthy blockbusters. His "Batman Begins" ran for 141 minutes (two hours and 21 minutes) while the sequel lasted a whopping 152 minutes (two hours and 32 minutes). Nolan's "Inception" also lasted 148 minutes (two hours and 28 minutes) while the final Batman installment "The Dark Knight Rises" was a whopping 165 minutes long (two hours and 45 minutes).

Director Zach Snyder does not have a history of such long films. Aside from "Watchmen (162 minutes)," his other films clock-in under two hours.

Little is known about the film's story even though the cast and crew have slowly made subtle revelations about the film. Henry Cavill, who plays Superman in the film, recently talked about his character's weakness and origins.

"There's a very real story behind the Superman character." Cavill explained "everyone's goal has been to explore the difficulties his character faces as a result of having multiple identities -- including his birth name, Kal-El, and his alter ego, Clark Kent."

He added "He's alone and there's no one like him. That must be incredibly scary and lonely, not to know who you are or what you are, and trying to find out what makes sense. Where's your baseline? What do you draw from? Where do you draw a limit with the power you have? In itself, that's an incredible weakness."

"Man of Steel" also stars Michael Shannon as General Zod, Lawrence Fishburne as Perry White, Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent, and Diane Lane as Martha Kent.

The film opens in theaters on June 14, 2013.
