Taco Bell is taking taco eating to a whole new level. The fast food chain has recently confirmed that they have started market testing its new Waffle Taco as part of its breakfast menu. The new menu item is limited to a number of California locations.

"We are testing the Waffle Taco in a handful of Southern California restaurants," a representative of Taco Bell told TODAY.com.

The new concept taco will be part of the chain's low-price menu and will come as a complete breakfast meal. Priced at 89 cents, the Waffle Taco features a sausage patty and scrambled eggs wrapped in a waffle--just a like a typical Taco Bell-taco. It also comes with a packet of syrup for the apparently tasty breakfast meal.

Taco Bell started offering a breakfast menu last year. Labeled the 'FirstMeal Menu,' it features unique breakfast items to hurl customers to the fast food chain. These include a unique breakfast drink called Mountain Dew A.M. According to TIME, the zippy drink is a fusion of Mountain Dew soda and orange juice that is directly mixed at each Taco Bell store.

The Waffle Taco is part of the fast food chain's move to make Taco Bell an option for breakfast as well. Over the years, the chain has been a favorite among the late-night crowd; with its breakfast food, it hopes to attract more people during its morning hours. With the new Waffle Taco, it hopes to strengthen this bid.

"We're pleased with the initial reaction from our customers," said the representative in an email, reported Bloomberg. While the Los Angeles Time report the taco to be "mushy" and "rubbery," it seems to be a hit among customers. People have been lining up in the three Southern California locations that exclusively offer the breakfast meal.

"If the waffle taco does well in testing, we'll roll it out to all our restaurants that serve breakfast," a representative of the chain said, as reported by TIME. And with the great reception the Waffle Taco has been getting, it's likely that we'll see the new dish at all 6,000 Taco Bell locations soon.
