The second installment of "The Hunger Games" series is just a summer away, and in anticipation of its release, new trailers, photos and cast interviews are pouring in. Fans are hungry for as much "Catching Fire" action as they can get, and a new poster should help curb their appetites, at least for a day or two.
The new poster features a mighty Katniss Everdeen perched atop a jagged cliff as she gazes out at ominous clouds, clutching her bow and arrow in her left hand. If you look closely, you can spy a mockingjay in the clouds.
Lionsgate posted the photo earlier today along with a caption that reads, "The sun persists in rising, so I made myself stand." The photo has already accumulated more than 9,000 'likes' and nearly 1,000 comments on Instagram.
"There she is my beautiful Mockingjay. Can't wait!!! Really! I think I'm gonna die.. November 22: why aren't you here?!?!?!?! ... I believe the movie is gonna be awesome," writes one enthusiastic fan.
Katniss Everdeen, played by Jennifer Lawrence, is a young hunter from District 12 who's cast into the Hunger Games, a cruel and vicious annual tradition. In a recent interview, Lawrence opened up about her role in "Catching Fire" and what her character represents.
"Her strength - I'm always finding myself drawn to strong characters, probably because I want to be like that - I mean this is a girl that has the world placed on her shoulders," Lawrence says. "She's one of the first people to stand up to the Capitol and I think that people see that strength. I mean it's a messed up world and it's about time somebody did it, but she's a young girl and she didn't play their games. She didn't make anybody her enemy really. She started a revolution and that's scary."
"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" hits theaters November 22 via Lionsgate.
