The semifinals of "Nuestra Belleza Latina" took place on Sunday with a celebration of Mother's Day taking centerstage.
Each contestant brought her mother to the stage. During the semi-finals Giselle Blondet told the contestants that two women would be eliminated and that five would make it to the finals.
For this week's JC Penny's challenge the girls had to recreate a picture of their mother when they were the same age. At the end of the competition the winner was Marina who won $10,000.
The first challenge for the night was done by Barbara Falcon and she had to dance and sing while giving her mother a makeover. Judge Lupita Jones told Falcon that she was thrilled to see her grow throughout the program.
Odaray then performed a dance representing her mother who was not present. She was accompanied by a professional dancer. After the dance Julian Gil told Odaray that she was an artist and was really excited for her.
Barbara Turby then danced a Cumbia with her mother in a traditional Colombian dress. Osmel Sousa said that Turby was a secure and incredible candidate for the final.
The next contestant was Marina who also danced with her mother. Mane de La Parra joined them in the dance. Osmel told Marina that she was very charismatic and the dance was one of the best she had done in the entire series.
Once she finished Blondet brought Odaray, Falcon and Turby out to join Marina. She said that one of the four would be eliminated because they had the least votes from the public.
Audris danced afterwards while she promoted the Dominican Republic. During her presentation her mother appeared in a video. Gil told Audris she was elegant and was ready to be a star.
Viviana sang while her mother danced to it. Jones said that Viviana had a wonderful voice and that she was one of the most elegant ever to be seen on the show.
The final participant of the night was Marisela who played the violin with a Mariachi band. Osmel said that Marisela improved throughout the course of the program.
Once they finished Blondet announced that Barbara Falcon only received 3.8% votes from the public and was therefore eliminated from the competition. Gil told Marina she was the first finalist and Jones announced that Barbara Turby would also go to the finals after almost being eliminated. Osmel also announced that Viviana was the third finalist.
The judges then had a hard time deciding who the last two finalist would be but eventually chose Audris and Marisela. They shocked with their choices as they eliminated Odaray, a contestant who many believed was the strongest to win the competition.
The final will air next Sunday at 8 pm.
