The end of an era is upon us. One of the most successful and funniest television sitcoms is coming to a close. We've seen its actors come and go, but the trendsetting series always remained on point with its comedic timing, evolving characters and charming love stories. It kept fans engaged and cemented its spot as one of the greatest comedy series of all time. Although it may be ending this week, it will forever be in our hearts.
One of the show's most lovable, outrageous characters, the original Dunder Mifflin general manager, Michael Scott (Steve Carell) left the show after the seventh season, but could be making his return for the series finale. According to TVLine, Carell will return for a cameo appearance as Michael, despite what executive producer Greg Daniels says.
Last week, Daniels didn't deny the rumors, but hinted that fans may be disappointed. "I think Steve felt, and I agree, that the 'Goodbye, Michael' episode was his goodbye and he didn't want to overshadow the ending that all the other characters deserved." Perhaps he's just stirring the pot, letting fans speculations run rampant. Besides, what would an "Office" series finale be without its original patriarch?
And what about Dwight (Rainn Wilson) and Angela (Angela Kinsey)? A new preview offers a sneak peek into their long awaited wedding. In last week's episode, Dwight proposed to Angela, and the finale will jump forward six months to their wedding day. Check out the promo below.
The Dunder Mifflin team will gather at the wedding and tie up all the loose ends. Pranks will be exposed and mysteries will be solved. John Krasinski, who plays the infectious Jim Halpert, says that the episode will be chock full of "good surprises."
In other "Office" news, the series finale will get an additional 15 minutes. Rachael Harris, Dakota Johnson and Joan Cusack are confirmed as guest stars, but we'll have to wait and see if Michael does indeed return to watch his loyal sidekick marry the love of his life.
The series finale of "The Office" will air this Thursday, May 16 on NBC.
